Deadline reports that TV Land has canceled their original comedy series RETIRED AT 35 after two seasons on the air. The series stars Broadway's Marissa Jaret Winokur and actor George Segal. The cancellation marks the first time the cable network has canceled one of its original series. The series' final season last summer included a 10-episode run, bringing the total number of episodes to 20 over a two cycle. Ratings have dropped significantly recently, despite creative changes made to the show. Marissa Jaret Winokur is best known for her performance as Tracy Turnblad in the highly successful Broadway musical adaptation of John Waters' film Hairspray, as well as her work on the Pamela Anderson sitcom Stacked. Some of her other TV Credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Moesha, The StEve Harvey Show, Just Shoot Me!, Felicity, and Dharma & Greg. She was a contestant on the popular reality competition series Dancing With the Stars and went on to host the similar Dance Your Ass Off. She most recently reprised her Hairspray role in the 2011 Hollywood Bowl production. |
