Weight Watchers Congratulates Brand Ambassador Jessica Simpson Second Pregnancy

Following weeks of speculation, Weight Watchers International, Inc. congratulated Jessica Simpson , one of its North American ambassadors, on the news that she is expecting her second child. Simpson confirmed the exciting news via Twitter on December 25.

"It's wonderful news and we couldn't be happier for Jessica, Eric and big sister-to-be Maxwell," said Cheryl Callan , Senior Vice President of Marketing, Weight Watchers. "We've seen first-hand that Jessica has a refreshed outlook on food, activity and the importance of developing healthy habits, which we hope will guide her through this next pregnancy and beyond. She has come a long way and we know her story and success will continue to inspire others."

After struggling in the past to lose weight healthfully, Simpson chose Weight Watchers to adopt a healthy lifestyle and set a positive example for her daughter Maxwell. By following the Weight Watchers program through weekly meetings with her family and friends, Jessica lost more than 50 pounds and has gained the knowledge and habits to help her make healthy choices in any life stage.

One of the most important factors for having a healthy baby is being a healthy mother, and Simpson's success on Weight Watchers returned her to the weight she was at prior to her pregnancy with Maxwell, putting her in a healthier position for this second pregnancy.

Simpson's successful weight loss prior to becoming pregnant will be featured in Weight Watchers' new "Expect Amazing" advertising campaign, including a spot with her sharing the happy news. However, Simpson will not be following the program during the pregnancy while her weight and well-being is monitored by her obstetrician, as is recommended for any woman during pregnancy. After she gives birth, Simpson and her doctor will decide when she should resume following the Weight Watchers program.
