Sigrun Lilja of Gydja Collection Awarded for Contributions to The Success Secret

Sigrún Lilja Guðjónsdóttir, head designer and founder of the Icelandic fashion label Gydja Collection, was honoured by the National Academy of Best-Selling Authors with the Quilly award for her contribution to the book The Success Secret, which she wrote with the American motivational speaker and author Jack Canfield.

Sigrún Lilja was awarded alongside a number of other leading specialists, who contributed to the book, at the Academy's AnnuAl Golden Gala in Hollywood.

"The award ceremony was a great success and it was an honour to stand on stage alongside Jack Canfield who is one of my biggest role models and has been for a long time. I am extremely proud and grateful to have received this award -- it is a great honour," commented Sigrún Lilja.

The Success Secret came out in the U.S. in August of this year and went straight to seven different bestseller lists and most notably second place on Amazon's bestseller list. The Quilly award was founded by the academy to honour the achievement of being a national bestseller and is a highly prestigious and recognised award for any author.

In addition, Sigrún Lilja's outfit attracted a lot of attention at the award ceremony with a bright yellow dress designed by her and sown from scratch by the Icelandic dress maker Sigrún Elsa Stefánsdóttir of the design label núrgiS.

"It was very gratifying to have the opportunity to promote Icelandic design from top to toe, but we didn't have much time to prepare," explained Sigrún Lilja.

The fashion designer also got Jóhannes Ottóson, an Icelandic goldsmith with the jewellry label Nox, to specially design jewellry for the event. Furthermore, she also wore shoes from the Gydja Collection range.

Following the event, Sigrún extended her stay in Los Angeles to meet with potential collaborators for her label Gydja Collection.
