Private sale site Rue La La announced that it recorded record-breaking Thanksgiving Day sales and traffic across online and mobile. The company reported a more than 75% increase in mobile sales over last year, with 50% of mobile sales coming through the iPad. The company projects an over 50% increase in overall sales this holiday weekend over last year.
The company began its holiday weekend deals at 11 am EST on Thanksgiving, and saw the largest increase in site traffic at 8pm EST during the launch of the Holiday Dash, a Boutique designed to allow members to both treat themselves and start polishing off their gift list as soon as the holiday dinner was cleared.
"The iPad has transformed holiday shopping traditions, becoming the perfect antidote to the 'post turkey dinner coma'," said Ben Fischman, CEO of Rue La La. "The enhanced experience and portability of the the iPad had our members heading to the couch in droves for the perfect kick off to their holiday shopping season."
Rue La La continued its holiday offerings at 8 am EST on Black Friday, when the company's member base of 7.5 million were able to shop for limited time Boutiques ranging from footwear to fine jewelry. At 3 pm EST, Rue La La will launch a luxury boutique featuring vintage Cartier, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes.
"We expect the combination of Rue La La's unique offerings and unprecedented values to continue to drive unprecedented consumer excitement over the weekend," said Fischman. "Smartphones and iPads will continue to play a big role as our members are eager to access the Boutiques whether in line for Black Friday or while travelling over the holiday weekend."
