The Ralph Lauren Corp. announced that Rugby Ralph Lauren will close both its online store and 14 locations by 2013. Rugby opened it's first store in Boston in 2005 hoping to attract the Harvard type collegiate types.
Senior editor of WWD, David Lipke, tweeted out:
The company's official statement in WWD explains they're discontinuing Rugby "in order to focus resources on higher growth, more scalable global opportunities with the core Ralph Lauren brand." So expect more Ralph Lauren "stores and e-commerce platforms and emerging merchandise categories and regions."
