Laura Ashley Launches S/S 2013 Collection

Inspired by the notion of travel and re-invention, Laura Ashley's Spring/Summer 2013 collections are all about looking forward to a new era: a mix of new pieces and reinvented bestsellers mean that they embody the key looks for SS13 in true Laura Ashley style.

The Lemoncello & Colour Pop spring collections are vibrant & zesty with shades of orange and yellow which create exciting pops of colour against silver-grey and earthy tones. Both of these ranges showcase contemporary classics such as chino trousers alongside more directional pieces like colour blocked and floral print blouses. Neutral pieces perfect for accessorising with bright and eye-catching bags, scarves and belts provide on-trend options for the slightly less brave.

As High Summer approaches, we transition toward a more muted palette with barely-there chalky shades and pretty pastels. These must have colours add a more grown up feel to what are normally sugary sweet tones whilst the use of delicate paisley and lace designs outlined in black add a modern edge. These are perfect combined with coloured bottoms in demure hues, clean-cut oxford cotton shirts, and slouchy jersey tops or knits.

Blue is an important theme that runs through several of the new Laura Ashley collections. In Cruise, sand and stone shades are set off against navy. By combining textures of washed cottons and silks with shades reminiscent of strawberry and vanilla ice cream the look has an elegant and feminine feel.

Of course no summer would be complete without the classic nautical style. Lovers of a vintage twist should look out for Resort with its classically shaped wardrobe staples such as feminine dresses, oversized shirts and slouchy pants which puts the focus on the prints. Paisley and foulard prints are worked with nautical stripes, chevrons, and waves; all in a palette of washed red, calico and sand.
