I/O Denim, an Austin based denim company, announced the launch of its American made, premium denim line featuring an innovative pocket designed to hide and house smartphones.
The I/O Pocket is a discrete, industry-changing pocket on the left-hand side of the jeans along the seam. The pocket is designed to handle any phone that has up to a 4.8-inch screen (iPhone, Galaxy S3, et al.) I/O Denim's First Edition jeans with I/O Pocket are available on Kickstarter, a crowd sourcing platform. The Kickstarter campaign will last until December 30, 2012, after which, I/O Denim will begin production and establish retail distribution.
The fit of the First Edition jean is a slim fit. This type of fit is between a "skinny" and "straight" fit. The brand plans on introduces more styles, cuts and washes in the Summer of 2013.
Founders and siblings Anand and Gitanjali Venkatrao established the company in January 2012 with the goal of creating a premium, American made denim line that serves as both stylish and practical for the modern man.

About Anand Venkatrao , Co-Founder/CEO:
With a background in technology, Anand never considered a career in fashion until the idea of the I/O Pocket came to him after a near car accident on Interstate-35. He then knew he could do something new in the fashion industry, and the concept of I/O Denim quickly developed. In addition to I/O, he currently works in outside sales/web development for an electronic component company in Austin, TX. He graduated from Baylor University with a BBA in Entrepreneurship.
About Gitanjali Venkatrao , Co-Founder/COO:
Gitanjali went to Baylor University and received a BA in Fashion Merchandising and Entrepreneurship. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, FIDM, for a graduate program. She then worked for two top-tier denim companies in downtown Los Angeles. With her previous experience in denim, Anand approached her with the idea of creating a new type of American made denim line. Gitanjali currently resides in Los Angeles, also working in outsides sales for an electronic component company.
