Chanel Acquires French Glove Firm

The Chanel acquisitions are so relatively small – they never disclose the sums, but it can’t be much.  Paraffection acquired Causse from husband-and-wife partners Manuel Rubio and Nadine Carel, who took over the business in 2003. Rubio is to remain managing director of the firm, and Carel continues as artistic director.  Causse currently employees 40 people.  

Causse makes gloves under its own name and also produces for brands including Louis Vuitton, Loewe and Chanel.  And Chanel says it encourages the ateliers to work for its rivals, and, after all, the more business the little businesses get, the better for the Chanel group’s bottom line.
